Most of the local stations (and many others it appears) have consistently set their DST information one day early. When this happens I see a one hour time error on my TV recievers. For example, the fall 2014 transition was scheduled for 2 November but on 2 October I saw a one hour error.
While I couldn't directly see the data transmitted by the stations, the obvious cause of this one day long time error was the DST information. Now that I can record this data directly, I can show what is happening. While my plots of GPS time sent by the stations are updated automatically each night, this information is only interesting twice a year. So I will produce these plots by hand.
Each plot shows the values for DS_status (1 means in daylight savings time), DS_day_of_month, and DS_hour.
The loser by a nose in the jumping the gun race was KJJM with KPXD in second place. KJJM at about 11:20PM on 4 Feb. and KPXD at midnight. Although KMPX has been showing an in DST status since I started recording data. While KJJM is a low power station and isn't required to comply with ATSC A/65, KPXD has no excuse for being stupid. KPXD is the local ION affiliate and it appears that at least one of their other stations did the same thing.

Lots of fun today. Many stations jumped the gun but there was some variation in the details. While nobody changed at midnight, many did at 2AM with a few at 3AM. Two stations are using bogus values of DS_day_of_month (5), perhaps in an attempt to work around this problem. (Or it might be that the first Sunday in April is the 5th.) But there are enough stations saying the transition is today so that my DVR time is off by an hour.
Plots today include just a few hours of data so that the timing can be seen better and include a plot creation time.

Most stations performed the actual changeover correctly although there was some variation. Some flipped ds_status at 2AM CST while others waited for another hour. The local NBC affiliate that has had DS_day_of_month set to five for the last month did it at 3AM CST. (4AM CDT)
Which is pretty much what all the others look like so that will be the only plot. The stations that never set DS_day_of month didn't do anything today either. Of the stations that did, RF 32 (KDAF 33) had't switched DS_status as of 6PM today.
RF 45 flipped today but not after a couple of interesting glitches. There was one sample where they showed the 5th as the transition date and between 10:30AM and 1:30PM their time was one hour fast. The they just changed DS_status.
RF 32 joined the in DST club today around 11AM.
After ignoring the transition till now, K31GL is now saying that we will spring forware at 2AM on the 15th. That station is particularly inept. Even for a low power station.
